Why Are You Living Up to the Limit You Were Told? (ADHD, Labels, The Woman Who Touched Jesus' Garment & Our Advocate)
Today, adults and kids alike are handed labels—'I have ADHD, I can't sit still, I have this condition, this is as far as I can go'—and before long, they start living down to the exact limit they were told. In Mark 5:25–34, there was a woman who had been sick for years with an issue of blood. Every doctor and every voice in society told her she was unclean, broken, and stuck at her limit. Yet she said in her heart, 'If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.' She pressed through the crowd and touched the hem of Jesus' garment. When Jesus stopped and asked, 'Who touched my clothes?', the whole crowd parted like the Red Sea, and when she admitted 'It was me,' Jesus called her 'Daughter' and made her completely whole. On the cross, Jesus cried 'It is finished' (John 19:30) and stands right now as our Advocate (1 John 2:1)—so you never have to live trapped inside a label again.
1. Stop Living Down to a Label: Seeing Your Real Potential in God's Eyes
Whether you are a 3rd-to-6th grader being told you can't focus because of ADHD, a differently-abled adult whom the world underestimates, or a man or woman carrying a past failure, a diagnosis is not your destiny. When someone speaks to your mind with truth and calls out the potential God placed inside you, the excuse loses its power.
2. 'Who Touched Me?' — The Woman Who Refused Her Limit (Mark 5:25–34)
Everybody in the street was bumping into Jesus casually (as Peter said, 'Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?'). But only one person reached out in desperate, genuine faith expecting Jesus to change her condition. The moment you reach for Him like that—not casually, but with your whole heart—power goes out from Him to meet you.
3. Jesus Our Advocate: 'It Is Finished' (John 19:30 & 1 John 2:1)
Every one of us has sinned and fallen short. We don't stand before God on our own performance—we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous (1 John 2:1). On the cross, He paid the debt in full and said, 'It is finished,' interceding for us every single day.
