Open the text of Exodus chapter 2 and ask a simple Berean question: Where does the Bible say Moses confessed killing the Egyptian? It doesn’t. Moses did not walk into Pharaoh’s court to confess. He looked left, he looked right, he forgot to look up, and he buried the body in the sand.
Twenty-four hours later, Moses tried to step out as a moral referee between two Hebrews, and the man fired back: “Intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian?” Moses panicked: “Surely this thing is known.” He didn’t confess—he got caught, fled into Midian for forty years, and assumed his calling was finished.
Yet God was not surprised by Moses’ failure. Forty years later at Mount Horeb, when Moses turned aside to look at the dry thornbush burning without being consumed, God called him by name. Stop trying to bury your record in the sand—bring it into the light of Christ (1 John 1:7–9) and make a real 180-degree turnaround.
