When you are going through a heavy season—working long hours, caring for your household, and picking up what feels like leftover stalks in the dirt—it is easy to wonder if God sees the weight of where you are.
From an earthly perspective, Ruth was a widowed foreigner doing back-breaking gleaning behind the harvesters. The Hebrew text of Ruth 2:3 literally says “her chance chanced upon” the field of Boaz—a deliberate literary wink showing that what looks like ordinary daily grind to man is sovereign choreography to God.
Just as God provided shelter and family for Moses at the well in Midian (Exodus 2:15–21), Boaz noticed Ruth’s quiet faithfulness from across the field and gave a private order to his reapers: pull out rich stalks from the bundles and drop “handfuls of purpose” right in her path. Boaz is the Old Testament portrait of our Go’el (Kinsman-Redeemer), Jesus Christ. Keep showing up in the field—the Lord has already commanded purposeful provision ahead of your steps.
